Sustainable Energy Research Group (ITU-S.E.R.G.) originated from the Faculty of Architecture, Istanbul Technical University is a team of architects and engineers working in the area of energy conscious and environmentally responsible building and settlement design and renewable energy technologies for educational and professional purpose.

ITU-S.E.R.G. started the energy related studies in the Faculty of Architecture in 1950s with climate sensitive building and settlement design in Turkey. The studies on daylighting started in 1970s by the group. Today the group has members from the other diciplines, such as mechanical and electrical engineering and earned an international reputation for its expertise in sustainable-energy conscious of design and renewable energy applications for buildings and settlements.

  • ITU Solar Boat Team won the  third degree in the Solar Splash World Championship.The first Turkish Solar Boat "NUSRAT" was designed and built by Istanbul Technical University students under the engineering supervision of Yonca-Onuk Shipyard.
